Weekend Tournaments

Every weekend the bot runs an automated knockout tournament - a random game, a real pot, and a champion crowned by Sunday night. Anyone can enter; there are no ratings and no teams, just a straight single-elimination bracket.

The weekend at a glance

When What happens
Friday 6pm A random game is drawn (Death Roll / Roll Duel / Rock Paper Scissors) and signups open. Join with !tournament join.
Saturday 2pm Signups close, the bracket is drawn (random seeding, byes as needed), and Round 1 pairings are posted.
Sat → Sun Rounds run at weekend pace. Play your assigned match whenever you're both around.
Sunday evening The final is played and the champion is crowned - the pot pays out.

Fewer than 4 entrants and the whole thing is cancelled Friday-night-style and everyone's refunded.

How to play

  1. Join - click the Join button on the announce (or !tournament join) while signups are open. The buy-in is escrowed (refunded if you leave before close, or if the tournament is cancelled). Prefer not to think about it? Run !tournament autojoin on once and you'll be auto-entered every weekend - the buy-in is taken when signups open, and you're simply skipped any week you can't afford it. Turn it off with !tournament autojoin off.
  2. Ready up & play - when you're paired you'll be @-pinged. Both players click the ✅ Ready button on the round message; once you're both ready the bot says go. Then play the tournament's game against your opponent as a normal friendly game with a bet of 0, e.g. !g deathroll @opponent 0. There's no special "tournament mode" - the bot auto-detects the result and advances the bracket. Only the first result between a paired-up couple counts. (Readying up also marks you as "showed up" for the no-show rule.)
  3. Win - survive every round to take the pot.

You'll be @-pinged when it's your turn each round. If your opponent ghosts and you turned up to play, you win at the deadline - only a genuine double no-show is decided by coin-flip. So show up.

Payouts

The pot is everyone's buy-ins combined.

Field size Split
4-7 players Winner takes all
